This Sunday 23 January will feature the Jazz Workshop Biggish Band at the Sunday Afternoon Spends in Gugulethu.

The Sunday Afternoon Spends, presented by Pro Helvetia, the Arts Council of Switzerland, is a four week series of jazz and afrobeat sessions at IKWEZI Community Centre in Gugulethu. The rest of the series features Tete Mbambisa, Afro Vibrations, and Mark Fransman's Strait and Narrow.

On Sunday the JWBB will be featuring Cape Town stalwart George Werner as a guest on piano, and we'll playing a selection of our trademark repertoire of original Big Band Jazz, composed for us by Mertyn Barrow, David Ledbetter, Douglas Armstrong and Jannie 'Hanepoot' van Tonder, as well as some new arrangements of South African classics by Zakes Nkosi, Hugh Masekela, Dollar Brand, Chris McGregor, etc

We'll be playing 2 sets starting 14h00 up to about 17h00. Entry is R20 and there'll be a bar, or for R150 (including entrance to the show) you can take a safe taxi from the Grand Parade (for more details look at http://www.coffeebeans.co.za/sundayspends_transport.htm or call Iain on 0844 769 249).

Directions to IKWEZI Community Centre are as follows:
	Take the N2 out of town, past the cooling towers toward the airport.
	Take EXIT 15 direction Bellville, Heideveld, Guguletu. At the robots, turn RIGHT over the freeway.
	On the left hand side you will pass this Mosque and approach a set of robots. Pass through this set toward the second set.
	At these robots, turn LEFT as indicated by the sign. Keep on straight, over the bridge and toward the set of robots.
	Just before the robots - at the intersection with NY1 - you will see this car wash complex on the right. On the left hand side you will see the TOTAL garage. At the robots, turn RIGHT. You are now on NY1.
	Proceed along NY1 enjoying the surroundings - the flow of people, the houses, the satellite dishes and the high incidence of luxury cars. Look out on the left hands side for the YELLOW DOOR jazz club, passing on your way SABU's tavern. The Yellow Door is set back slightly. Just after the Yellow Door you will come to a set of robots. At these robots, turn LEFT, then 2nd LEFT pass the butchery pictured here. This is a good place to have lunch, buy your meet in the butchery and head outside to the fireplaces to braai it.
Just diagonally ahead you will see the Yellow Door. Turn RIGHT and you will see IKWEZI. Park, pay and enjoy. And if you get stuck or lost, call 0844 769 249.
