Come see Hanepoot & the Biggish Band in Concert at the Masque Theatre in Muizenberg on Sunday August 13 at 19h00.

This groovy 18-piece big band led by Jannie 'Hanepoot' van Tonder will play 2 sets from its purely South African pad.

The Masque Theatre is one of the very best of  theatre venues in Cape Town, with quality lights and sound, and is situated at 37 Main Road, Muizenberg. Previous Biggish Band gigs at the Masque have been great occasions, and the early Sunday evening slot is just the thing to end off a wintry weekend. Expect to hear some lekker new arrangements of South African jazz classics (tunes by Errol Dyers, Zakes Nkosi, Dollar Brand, Chris McGregor, Hugh Masekela, etc) as well as some great originals composed for us by Merton Barrow, David Ledbetter, Douglas Armstrong, 'Hanepoot' van Tonder and others. The music includes traditional South African goema and mbaqanga tunes, as well as regular big band swing  ... and even a tango!
