Come and enjoy an afternoon of great South
African jazz on the lawns of this beautiful wine estate. Bring your
picnic, or phone 021-975-8875 to order a picnic from Café Nitida.
Nitida is one of the smallest wine estates in the beautiful
Durbanville 'kloof' area. There are just 14 hectares under vine, and
the production has grown to around 7,500 cases over the last nine
years. With meticulous attention to detail owner/winemaker, Bernhard
Veller, has worked to make Nitida one of the most consistently
awarded cellars in South Africa.
The Biggish Band is led by
trombonist Jannie 'Hanepoot' van Tonder and plays solely South
African big band jazz material
, including new arrangements of 'standards' by the likes of Errol Dyers, Zakes Nkosi, Hugh Masekela and Dollar Brand, as well as originals by Merton Barrow, Douglas Armstrong, David Ledbetter and Hanepoot himself. You’ll hear some Cape goema and Jo'burg marabi tunes, swing and even a tango.
To get to the Nitida Wine Estate, take the Tygervalley Road (M31) behind the Tygervalley Shopping Centre. Drive north until you reach the T-junction just after Altydgedacht Wine Estate. Turn left at this T-junction onto Tygerberg Road. Nitida is on
the right-hand side 2 kilometres from the T-junction.
Entrance is R50. The music starts at
3pm. More info at
